Thulium (Tm)is a rare earth metal and is one of the least abundant rare earth elements. It is silvery-gray, soft, malleable, ductile, and can be cut with a knife. The pure metal is bright and lustrous, and reasonably stable in air.

Typical Applications
Thulium, when irradiated, produces an isotope that emits x-rays which can be used to make lightweight, portable x-ray machines. It is also used in lasers with surgical applications.
