Terbium (Tb) Metal

Terbium (Tb) is a soft, silvery rare earth metal. It is one of the least abundant rare earth metals. It is malleable, ductile, and soft; it can be cut with a knife. Terbium is relatively stable in air but is more reactive in powder form.

Typical Applications

Terbium (Tb) is used in low-energy light bulbs and mercury lamps, enhancing safety in medical x-rays. It is used in ceramics, paints, lasers, devices with visual displays, and fluorescent lamps to impart a green color. It is also a dopant in manufacturing semiconductors and other solid-state devices.
