Rhenium (Re) Metal

Rhenium (Re) is a very dense metal with a very high melting point second only to tungsten. It retains its crystalline structure at temperatures up to its melting point. Rhenium resists wear and withstands arc corrosion. It is gray to black in powder form, silvery-white, and lustrous as a solid.

Purity 99.99%
Typical Applications

Rhenium (Re) is used as an alloy in conjunction with tungsten and molybdenum, and is used for oven filaments and x-ray machines. It is also used as an electrical contact material. Filaments of rhenium are used in mass spectrographs and ion gauges. Rhenium is used with platinum to form an alloy used in petroleum refining.
