Typical Applications
Rhenium (Re) is used as an alloy in conjunction with tungsten and molybdenum, and is used for oven filaments and x-ray machines. It is also used as an electrical contact material. Filaments of rhenium are used in mass spectrographs and ion gauges. Rhenium is used with platinum to form an alloy used in petroleum refining.
