Praseodymium (Pr) Metal

Praseodymium (Pr) is a rare earth metal that is soft, silvery-yellow, malleable, and ductile. It is more corrosion-resistant in the air than other rare earth metals. Praseodymium is never found free in nature, appearing only in a combined form with other rare earth metals in various minerals. Praseodymium forms brightly colored compounds.

Purity 99-99.9%
Typical Applications

Praseodymium is used in various alloys. It forms a high-strength alloy with magnesium used in aircraft engines. It is used, ~5%, to make Mischmetal. Praseodymium is also used in alloys for permanent magnets.

It is combined with other metals to make carbon arc electrodes for studio lighting/projection. Praseodymium salts are used to color glasses, enamel, and glazes an intense and unusually clean yellow. Its oxide form is used to make specialty glass.
