Indium (In) Metal
Purity: 99.9 – 99.999%
The major application of indium is used to make indium tin oxide (ITO). This compound is used in touch screens, flat screen TVs, and solar panels. It is used to give a mirror finish to windows of tall buildings and as a protective film on welders’ goggles. Other indium compounds are semiconductors used in transistors and microchips. Indium is used to manufacture equipment operating in harsh environments, e.g., space and cryogenics, and also has been used to coat ball bearings in airplanes, Formula 1 racing cars, and in fire-sprinkler systems.
