Europium (Eu) is a rare earth metal that is silvery-white. It is the least dense, softest, and most ductile of the lanthanide series. Europium is the most volatile of the rare earth metals and quickly oxidizes in air and reacts in water.

Typical Applications
Europium is used to manufacture colored phosphors in televisions, computer screens, and other visual displays. It is used in lasers and mercury-vapor lamps. Europium is used in making control rods in nuclear reactors.

Packaged under mineral oil or in ampoules under argon. It should not be stored under oil, though.
