Erbium (Er) Metal
Erbium (Er) is a Rare Earth Metal. It is a soft, silvery element that is malleable and bright. Erbium finds little use as a metal It does not oxidize as rapidly as some of the other rare earth metals as it is fairly stable in air. Erbium has a high electrical resistivity.

Typical Applications
Erbium is used in steel alloyed with metals such as vanadium, as its addition lowers their hardness and improves their workability. It is commonly used as a photographic filter, and because of its resilience, it is helpful as a metallurgical additive. It is also used in fiber optic cables and lasers due to its pink-colored Er³⁺ ions, which have optical fluorescent properties.
