Rubidium (Rb) Metal
Rubidium (Ru) is a soft, silvery-white alkali metal. It is very electropositive and alkaline. Rubidium forms amalgams with mercury and alloys with gold, cesium, sodium, and potassium. It is highly reactive, igniting spontaneously in air and reacting vigorously in water. Rubidium has a high heat capacity and heat transfer coefficient.

Typical Applications
Most of the rubidium applications are in research. It has been used as a deodorant to remove oxygen from vacuum tubes of photocells.
