Inconel Alloys
Use for Inconel 600 are thermocouple sheaths, reactor vessels, and heat exchanger tubing, processing equipment, in nuclear reactors in control rod inlet stub tubes, reactor vessel components and seals, steam dryers and separators, and in pressurized water reactors in control rod guide tubes and steam generator baffle plates.
Uses for Inconel 625 are for components exposed to seawater and other high mechanical stresses, Oil and gas production where hydrogen sulfide and elementary sulfur exist at temperatures over 150C, flare stacks on offshore oil platforms, and hydrocarbon processing from tar-sand and oil-shale recovery projects.
Uses for Inconel 718 tend to be in the field of gas turbine components and cryogenic storage tanks. Jet engines, pump bodies and parts, rocket motors and thrust reversers, nuclear fuel element spacers, and hot extrusion tooling. Other popular uses are high-strength bolting and down-hole shafting.
