FerroChromium

FerroChromium (FeCr) is an alloy containing Iron and Chromium, generally containing 50 to 70% chromium by weight. This ferroalloy is used in producing steel, especially stainless steel, to achieve corrosion resistance, tensile strength, heat resistance, and yield strength.
Low Carbon FerroChrome Typical Chemical Analysis

Chromium = 70 – 75.00%
Carbon = ≤0.085%
Silicon = ≤1.00 %
Phosphorus = ≤0.03%
Silicon = ≤0.01%
Nickel = ≤0.50%
Iron = Balance

High Carbon FerroChrome 9% Carbon Typical Chemical Analysis

Chromium = ≥65.0%
Carbon = ≥9.0%
Silicon = ≤1.00 %
Aluminum = ≤0.15%
Sulfur = ≤0.05%
Phosphorus = ≤0.03%

High Carbon FerroChrome 8% Carbon Typical Chemical Analysis

Chromium = ≥65.0%
Carbon = ≥8.0%
Silicon = ≤1.00 %
Aluminum = ≤0.15%
Sulfur = ≤0.05%
Phosphorus = ≤0.03%

Typical Applications

Used in the production of stainless steel and the manufacturing of ball-bearing steels, tool steels, as well as other alloy steels. Low-carbon ferrochrome is used to manufacture acid-resistant steels and when more chromium is needed to be added to carbon steel. Ferro chromium powder is used in powder metallurgy.
