Antimony (Sb)

Antimony (Sb) is a semi-metal that is bluish-white, extremely brittle, and flaky. It is a poor conductor of heat and electricity.

Purities available from 99.99% to 99.999%
Typical Applications

In its purest forms, Antimony is used in semiconductor technology to make infrared detectors, diodes & Hall-effect devices. Antimony is used in the manufacture of alloys. It is used as a hardening agent for lead and in lead-antimony batteries. Other antimony alloys are used in printing presses, bullets, and cable sheathing.
Antimony compounds make up 60% of their use and are used to make flame-retardant materials.

Packaging Options

Jars, pails, drums, multi-ply paper bags, bulk bags, and fiberboard containers

Sustainable Qualities

Antimony is a naturally occurring element widely used in the electronics, transportation, and packaging industries. It is considered sustainable because it is abundant in the Earth’s crust and can be easily recycled. Antimony can be recycled by melting down used products that contain Antimony and separating the metal from other materials. This reduces the need to mine for new Antimony and helps to conserve natural resources.

In addition to its recyclability, Antimony also contributes to a circular economy through its use in flame retardants and other materials that can extend the lifespan of products. By reducing the need for frequent replacement or disposal of products, Antimony can help to minimize waste and promote a more sustainable approach to resource management.
