Hematite (Fe₂O₃)
Hematite, red iron oxide (Fe₂O₃), is the most important iron ore. It is the most abundant and is naturally found in rocks of all ages. Hematite’s appearance varies with wide luster, and color ranges from earthy to metallic and red to black to silver but always produces red streaks. It is very heavy and usually anti-ferromagnetic. It is also available as a synthetic product.

Typical Applications
Hematite is used in coatings, colorants, rubber, adhesives, plastics, concrete, iron ore in steel manufacture, a density media, and as a polishing rouge
