Tungsten (IV) Sulfide (WS₂)

Tungsten (IV) Sulfide, WS₂, or Tungsten Disulfide, is a grayish-black powder that has a low friction coefficient and high load-bearing capacity making it popular as a solid lubricant. It also offers durability, wear resistance, and excellent electrical conductivity and thermal stability. It can also be added to composites to enhance strength and stiffness.
Typical Applications

Tungsten (IV) sulfide is commonly used in the aerospace and automotive industries as a lubricant for high-speed bearings, gears, and other mechanical components.
Tungsten disulfide is also used as a coating material to improve the wear resistance of surfaces and has applications on a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, and ceramics. Tungsten disulfide is also used with electrical contacts and semiconductor devices and as a filler material in composites.
