Thermite

Reade offers Pure Thermit®. This mixture consists of Iron (III) Oxide and Aluminum powder mixture in stoichiometric ratios to yield the maximum reaction temperature in a very short period. It is used for applications of heat shock testing. The particle size distribution of the mixture is between – 800 microns + 75 microns and the bulk of the material (75%) falls in the 425 to 150-micron range.

Reade also offers custom thermit mixes that can consist of Carbon, Manganese, and Silicon with varying micro-alloy contents depending on the hardness the customer requires.

Pure Thermit® is a registered trademark of Orgo-Thermit.
Typical Applications

Metallurgical Thermit® powder mixtures are used for railroad and crane rail welding applications.

The aluminum thermite reaction is commonly used for welding and cutting applications and in pyrotechnics and incendiary devices. It is also used in certain industrial processes, such as producing metal alloys and purifying ores.

Copper thermite has specific applications in welding and brazing copper and copper alloys and in producing certain metal alloys.
