It is an inert material with a high refractive index and low absorption, which makes it useful for coatings. It has a high dielectric constant and a high bandgap. It also has high biocompatibility and resistivity.

Typical Applications
Tantalum (V) Oxide is used in the production of capacitors, resistive switching memories, high-frequency CMOS integrated circuits, DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) capacitor applications, and in the fabrication of optics and glasses and coatings. It has been shown to improve corrosion resistance and cytocompatibility of titanium substrates and has attracted many biomedical applications.
