Synthetic Cryolite (Na₃(AlF₆)

Synthetic cryolite, Na₃(AlF₆), also known as sodium aluminum fluoride or Sodium Hexafluoroaluminate is a snow-white powder.

There are two grades available. Powder and U/F.

Na= 30 – 32%
Al= 12 – 13%
F= min. 53%

50% typically 8-20 Microns

U/F Typical Particle Size Distribution:
Passing 270 Mesh 100%
Passing 325 Mesh 96% minimum

Typical Applications

Synthetic cryolite is used extensively as a flux in the industrial production of aluminum metal. It is used in the glass, ceramics, and enamel industries, as well as in the manufacturing of relatively safe fruit and vegetable insecticides. It is a binder for abrasives and has applications in explosives and pyrotechnics. It has applications in brake pad linings, bonded abrasives, enamel, and grass frits.
