Silicon Dioxide, High Purity (SiO₂)

Silica, SiO₂, is non-combustible, odorless, and colorless (or white) in crystal form. High-purity silica sand is a major industrial commodity since it is almost entirely composed of silica. Silica sand products are marketed in various grades, including extremely fine flours.

Note: Silicon dioxide is inert and harmless in most cases; however, inhaling finely divided silica dust over time can lead to respiratory ailments and a reduction of lung capacities.

Particle sizes for Fine Ground are 5 to 40-micron
Particle sizes for Precision Ground are 45-250 microns.
Other particle sizes are available upon request.
Typical Applications

Silicon Dioxide has a variety of industrial uses depending on the formulation and size. Some applications include silicone adhesives, paints and coatings, rubber & silicones, epoxy & plastics, traffic paint, residential, architectural paint, and industrial coatings.

The applications for high-purity silica nanoparticles include semiconductors, fiber optics, and solar panels. It can be an additive for manufacturing rubber and plastics; a strengthening filler for concrete and other construction composites; and a stable, non-toxic platform for drug delivery and theranostics.

Packaging Options

Jars, pails, drums, multi-ply paper bags, bulk bags, and fiberboard containers

Sustainable Qualities

High-Purity Silicon Dioxide, also known as Quartz, is a sustainable material used in various applications, including electronics, optics, and semiconductors. Quartz is abundant in the earth’s crust and can be easily sourced, making it a highly sustainable material. Additionally, Quartz is fully recyclable, making it an excellent candidate for a circular economy. By recycling Quartz, manufacturers can reduce their dependence on virgin materials, conserve resources, and reduce waste.
