Potassium Ferrate (K₂FeO₄)

Potassium Ferrate (K₂FeO₄) is a purple paramagnetic salt that is a powerful oxidant throughout the entire pH range. It is stable, easily prepared, and can remain stable in moisture-excluded air for a long period. It has a non-toxic by-product Fe(III) that makes potassium ferrate(VI) an environmentally friendly oxidant for natural waters.
Typical Applications

Potassium ferrate has attracted attention as a potential cathode material in a “super iron battery.” It has applications in “green chemistry” as a promising multi-purpose wastewater treatment chemical and for the removal of environmental and industrial contaminants in soil remediation. Potassium ferrate can also be used as a disinfectant, antifoulant, and coagulant.
