Niobium Carbide (NbC)

Niobium carbide is a green cubic crystal with a metallic luster. It is a ceramic material and is amongst the hardest technical compounds known. It is an extremely hard refractory material.

Purity: 99% – 99.5%
Typical Applications

Niobium carbide is used in tool bits for cutting tools, as a refractory coating in nuclear reactors, and is used to produce arc-welding rods. It can also be added to corrosion-resistant steel. It is used to make hard-tipped tools and special steels and to coat graphite in nuclear reactors.
