Molybdenum Disilicide (MoSi₂) is a gray metallic-looking intermetallic compound that is a refractory ceramic with a moderate density, a melting point of 2030ºC and is electrically conductive. It is thermally stable but exhibits high emissivity.

Typical Applications
Molybdenum Disilicide (MoSi₂) is used in heating elements. It also is used for high emissivity coatings in heat shields for atmospheric entry in space vehicles. Other uses include electrical resistors and protective coatings on refractories used in glass melters.
