Molybdenum Carbide (Mo₂C)

Molybdenum carbide is a refractory ceramic with a high melting point and excellent wear resistance. It finds uses in high-temperature applications. It has a high surface area and a unique crystal structure which gives it catalytic properties.
Typical Applications

Molybdenum carbide is used as a coating material to improve surface wear resistance and durability in cutting tools, engine parts, and aerospace components. It is also a catalyst in various chemical reactions, including ammonia and methanol production. Molybdenum carbide is also used as a sintering aid in the production of tungsten carbide by improving the densification and mechanical properties by reducing the sintering temperature and time.
