Magnesium Oxide (MgO)

Magnesium oxide is a mineral that occurs naturally as periclase and is a source of magnesium. MgO has the acid buffering capacity and related effectiveness in stabilizing dissolved heavy metal species.
Pharmaceutical Grade: Must conform to the USP, JP, and BP specifications
Food Additive Grade: Must conform to the FCC specification

Typical Applications

Magnesium oxide is used in soil and groundwater remediation, wastewater treatment, drinking water treatment, air emissions treatment, and waste treatment industries.
It is a raw material in making Portland cement.
MgO is also used as a moisture absorbent used by libraries to preserve books.
Magnesium oxide is also used by the pharmaceutical industry as an antacid, a magnesium supplement, a short-term laxative, and an anti-caking agent by the food industry.

Other uses include a fireproofing material in construction materials, a component of gas mantles, an insulator in industrial cables, and a refractory material for crucibles.
