Magnesium Chloride (MgCl₂)

Magnesium Chloride (MgCl₂) is a colorless crystalline electrically conductive solid that is soluble in water and alcohol. Anhydrous magnesium chloride is highly hygroscopic and must be stored in a dry, and suitably ventilated place, and leakage must be avoided. It is incompatible with steel, brass & aluminum due to its corrosive nature.
Typical Applications

Magnesium Chloride (MgCl₂) is used in a wide variety of industries and has many applications. Some of the many uses include being used in disinfectants, fire extinguishers, and paper manufacturing. It is the raw material for many reagents and auxiliary raw material for the synthesis of medical and fine chemicals. Magnesium chloride is used as a flux agent for the refinement of alloys of aluminum, magnesium, etc., and as a desiccant for automobile components, precision electronic devices, and other higher-end items. It is a polymerization catalyst support for polyolefin-based resin and in a polymerase chain reaction (PCR). It is used as a catalyst for chemical synthesis (Lewis acid catalysts) and hydrogen storage.
