Typical Applications
Lithium oxide is used in special glasses and glass ceramics as a flux in ceramic glazes. It acts as a thickening agent in the manufacture of greases and as a coolant in nuclear reactors. It has a possible new use as a replacement for lithium cobalt oxide as the cathode in the lithium-ion batteries used to power electronic devices from mobile phones to laptop computers to battery-powered cars
