Iron (II) oxide is used in the manufacturing of green, heat-absorbing glass that is used in buildings and automobiles. It is also used as a precursor in steel manufacturing. Iron (II) Oxide is also used as a dye or pigment in pottery, glazes, and glasses and also used in cosmetics and some tattoo inks. It is used as a catalyst in several industrial and chemical operations, as well as used for filtering phosphates from home aquaria. It is also used in battery applications.
