Ilmenite (FeTiO₃)

Ilmenite (FeTiO₃) is a naturally mined black iron titanium oxide mineral that is used as a major source of titanium or titanium dioxide. It is heavy, moderately hard on the Mohs Scale, odorless, tasteless, opaque under a microscope, non-flammable, and insoluble at 20ºC.
Typical Chemical Analysis

TiO₂= 69.3%
Fe₂O₃= 25.78%
MnO= 7.21%
Al₂O₃= 1.12%
SiO₂= 0.59%
ZrO₂= 0.2%
MgO= 0.11%
P= 0.05%
S= 0.017%

Typical Applications

Important as a source of white titanium oxide, the titanium content, and for pigment applications

Packaging Options

50 lb. bags, 100 lb. bags, bulk bags, and loose bulk

Classification

Ilmenite Powder & Sand TSCA (SARA Title III) Status: Not Classified (IARC Group 3). Ilmenite contains very low levels of naturally occurring radioactive elements- mainly uranium and thorium- in common with many naturally occurring mineral products.
