Garnet grains, sands, or powders are typically used as an abrasive and commonly as a replacement for silica sand in sandblasting. An abrasive garnet can be broadly divided into two categories, blasting grade and water jet grade, with the larger grain sizes used for faster work and the smaller ones used for finer finishes. Garnett is also used in non-skid surfaces, and garnet sand is used for water filtration media. Whole stones are used heavily as semi-precious stones.

Garnet, a naturally occurring mineral, is a sustainable material that can be used in a variety of applications such as sandblasting, waterjet cutting, and polishing. It is an abundant and durable material that does not degrade over time, making it a more environmentally friendly option than synthetic abrasives. Additionally, Garnet is often recycled and reused, contributing to a circular economy and reducing waste.
