Chromium Oxide (Cr₂O₃)

Chromium(III) Oxide (Cr₂O₃), Chromic oxide, is the stable primary oxide of chromium and is a blue-green color. In nature, it occurs as the rare mineral eskolaite and is used as a pigment. It was originally called Viridian.

Chromium(III) Oxide (Cr₂O₃) is commonly used as a green pigment in paints, inks, and glasses, and the “chrome green” and “institutional green” colorant in ceramics, cement, and asphalt roofing. It has uses in the semiconductor industry, refractory, food packaging, and food processing industries.
